two years later, in I878 the first Phonebook came out.
Soon Phonebooks were divided into several sections. The most common are
Whites Pages (search by name) and Yellows Pages (search by activity)
Theodore Vail
turned the Invention of
the Phone into a Commercial Success
building a National Long Distance network all over North America
Others like Lars Magnus Ericsson
or Werner von Siemens
invented Phones and new Transmission
Technologies
In I952 it became possible to place Calls without Operator all over the USA
In I964 Country Codes we set up making it possible to dial International phonenumbers
directly (IDD).
I969 Buzz Aldrin
and Louis Amstrong went
to the Moon and opened the way to Satellite Comunications
Little by little, during the 90ties, Internet came alive
making it possible to search for Phonenumbers without calling Directory Enquieries
The Inventors of the Internet imagined Internet to be simple
using a just one and only, universal code .... .com
In I995 howether 244 different local Internet codes were set up,
they are today used in almost 3000 different variations.
At the same time more and more Phonebooks
started to come online
The complexity of local
Internet Codes and
the multitude of Languages and Expressions
confused Brigitte
who had difficulties to find International Phonenumbers via the Internet.
