Werner von Siemens was born in Northern Germany as the 4th of I4 children.
He dreamed about becoming an Engeneer.
As his parents couldn't pay for his studies he joined the Army
where he attended an Engeneeering College in Berlin.
His parents died soon after he completed studies
and Werner had to support his younger Brothers and Sisters.
In addition to beeing a Soldier he made different Inventions to earn money.
During that time he met Johan Georg Halske, a Mechanical Engineer
and together they decided to build Pointer Telegraphs
founding on October 1 1847 the Siemens & Halske Telegraph Construction
Company.
The first orders didn't wait very long....
The first mayor project was Europes first long distance Telegraph cable
connecting Berlin to Francfort.
Werner Siemens left the Army to have all his time for
Research and developing his business in which he included
his younger brothers.
After Projects in Germany the company received orders from
Russia where they build Telegraph cables from St Petersburg
to Odessa.
The 'Siemens Brothers' continuosly kept improoving Transmission Technologies
to lay their cables through Mountains and Oceans.
They build the 11000 km Cable from London to Calcutta and
one of the first TransAtlantic Cables from Ireland to New York.
Many other Inventions followed
including the Invention of the Dynamoelectric Principle.
In I888 the German Emperor Freidrich III
raised Werner Siemens to Nobility
making him Werner "von" Siemens in recognition
to his services for
Science and Society.
Werner von Siemens died in 1892
leaving many Invention and one of the worlds important
electronic companies, today called Siemens AG.
Next to all kind of Electronic products like
Trains, Logistic Systems or Washing Machines
many Siemens products are Telecommunication products.
While Siemens AG is today among the 50 largest Companies of the World
the Siemens family, still present,
has lost most of their control over the company.
