Philipp Reis (I834-I874)

Philipp Reis was born in Germany (+49)
and lifed from I834 to I874
He worked as a teacher in Friedrichsdorf near Frankfurt


On Oct. 26th, I86I (!),
(I5 years before Alexander Bell)
he demonstrated his invention of a simple,
electrically driven telephone
to the members of the 'society for physics' in Frankfurt.

Unfortunately,
his invention was not considered regard as a serious communication opportunity,
and it had to be years later,
when Alexander Bell could succeed to bring a telephone to patent.
Philipp Reis died January 14 I874 from Tuberculosis
without beeing recognised for his Invention


Philipp Reise's telephones were hand crafted
in small numbers,
but spread into the laboratories around the world
to help other people
to work on this invention and improve it.
