more wind resistant and less expensive than a suspended bridge the cable-stayed bridge is designed around two towers. I84 staying cables hold up the weight of the central span. Maintainance costs are considerably reduced since each cable can be dismantley individually whilst keeping the brdge up in service. The Normandy bridge resists to wind up to 300 km/h. Particular attention was given to the Pont de Normandie's lighting, designed by Yann Kersalé, the same person that has set up the lighting of the Champs Elysée and the famous Golden Gate |
